In September 2013, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued Decree No.25 of 2013 concerning the development and implementation of a fully integrated e-Permit and e-Ticketing platform.

With the objective of supporting and developing the events sector – a key pillar of the strategy behind Dubai’s Tourism Vision for 2020 to welcome 20 million visitors per year by the end of the decade – the decree appoints Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) as the body responsible for the development and management of an online system through which all procedures related to the application, processing and licensing of event permits are operated. The system also includes a centralized platform for the sale and distribution of tickets for all events in Dubai.

Only venue owners and event organisers can register on the e-Permit and e-Ticketing platform.

Reference to the Decree No. (54 / 2016) on the Events Licensing System in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Events Licensing System is a platform which streamlines, facilitates and collates event registration and licensing procedures providing a unified registry and permit approval mechanism from all government

entities for all types and kinds of events including exhibitions, conferences, training courses, workshops, meetings etc., that are conducted in Abu Dhabi.

This permit aims to make organizing events in Abu Dhabi easier through providing event planners with a single entity for approval, while maintaining accurate statistics and to manage all types of (business) events within the emirate, with the overall goal of developing the events industry.
